Job Summary: An Install Manager oversees installation projects and works with both the Designer/Estimator, Install Foreman, and Install Crew to ensure the proposed design project is being executed with quality and efficiency. Must have attention to details and be able to teach other team members to do the same when on a job.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Encourage installation team members to do quality work and meet sales goals.
  • Be prepared to leave the main office and proceed to the project job site in a timely manner with crew, equipment, and materials needed.
  • Ensure materials and equipment needed for a project are on the job site.
  • Observe and motivate the installation team members to work productively.
  • Communicate by email with customers regarding questions and change orders.
  • Work alongside the designer and estimator to discuss the accuracy of time and materials for new project estimates.
  • Work with other team members to diagnose problems and formulate solutions.
  • Keep a 2-3 week schedule of projects and tasks to complete planned out for the install crew.
  • Manage routes and schedules using our software program to ensure scheduled visits and tasks are being completed. Also, adjust routes and schedules to optimally work around unworkable bad weather days.
  • Be proficient in using our software program and be able to train crew leaders to use our time tracking app.
  • Approve absent/vacation days for crew and be sure fill-ins are in place if needed.
  • Manage customer inquiries regarding quality, concepts, and identifying and troubleshooting problems.
  • Check that all equipment is maintained properly and in working order as to be ready for the job at hand.
  • Verify that general disposable products (trash bags, flags, marking paint, etc) are stocked and ready to be used for the job at hand.
  • Work directly with upper management on big purchase items and needs.
  • Understand and adhere to the set budget for each project.
  • Follow agreed plan between customer and Smith Lake Landscaping to complete the landscape successfully with highest quality.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge and skills in construction and ability to foresee potential problems and prevent unnecessary job site issues.
  • Intermediate understanding of grasses and plants (or be willing to learn).
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment and ability or operate equipment is a must.
  • Driver’s license
  • Be able to pass a drug test
  • Ability to move or lift up to 50 pounds
  • Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or related service industries is a plus.

Job Summary: We are currently looking for an Install Foreman to oversee the construction of outdoor spaces, supervising employees and managing equipment. A top-notch landscape supervisor should constantly be learning, expanding their horticulture knowledge, be a keen problem solver, and possess good communication skills. Knowledge of the landscape industry is a major plus.

If you don’t have experience in this area, that is totally fine – we will train you!  However, some knowledge of the landscape industry is a major plus, as well as experience running landscape equipment (Dingo, skid steer, track hoe, etc.). Job Summary: The Maintenance Manager oversees the Maintenance Foreman and Maintenance Crew Members. A Maintenance Manager must have advanced knowledge of mower operation and troubleshooting. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create accurate estimates for all maintenance and plant & turf care service proposals. 
  • Coordinate meetings with customers and thoroughly communicate the services offered using our Service Plans as a guide.
  • Correctly measure customer properties and input data into our jobsite measurements software.
  • Generate precise time estimate for services to be performed at a jobsite (to be used in formulating service proposals.)
  • Using our software program compare on-site measurements taken with overhead measurements to ensure accuracy. 
  • Work alongside Plant & Turf Care/Spray Technician to review renewals checking that all labor times, jobsite measurements, and chemical quantities used are still within an accurate range or revise if needed prior to renewal.
  • Complete estimates in a timely manner and communicate with customer via email or in-person to go over the scope of program and pricing.
  • Follow-up with customers one week after delivery of proposal to verify it was received and answer any follow-up questions.
  • Maintain record of specific customer/jobsite detailed notes and requests.
  • Review new contracts with the Maintenance Foreman and Maintenance Crew noting any specific details pertaining to a property at the first time visit.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of grass, weeds, and plants types.
  • Continual education in landscape maintenance should be pursued through research and training to increase knowledge and stay in-the-know about the latest information in the industry.
  • Manage maintenance crew routes and schedules using our computer software program and see to it that all tasks and visits are being completed successfully.
  • Be able to re-route and re-schedule around unworkable bad weather days using time efficiently and productively on workable days. 
  • Train maintenance crew members on our time tracking app.
  • Approve absent/vacation days and be sure fill-ins are in place if needed.
  • Handle customer inquiries regarding quality, concerns, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions.
  • Ensure all trucks, mowers, and other equipment are kept in proper working order and are ready to be used when the need arises at a job.
  • Maintain inventory of general disposable products needed by the maintenance crew (filters, blades, etc.), so they are available when needed.
  • Work alongside upper management when diagnosing problems at a property, making big purchases for the maintenance team, or addressing additional training needs.
  • Verify Maintenance Crew Members are completing their assigned training modules each quarter by testing their knowledge using the Supervisor Training Checklist.

Job Summary: The Maintenance Foreman leads the Maintenance Crew Members in . A Maintenance Foreman must have knowledge of mower operation and troubleshooting.

  • Work alongside the maintenance manager to be sure maintenance crews are performing productively and efficiently.
  • Lead the Maintenance Crew in performing day-to-day required tasks for each property.
  • Using landscaping software, be able to locate needed information for each property contract to perform the tasks at-hand.
  • Possess knowledge of grass, weeds, and plants types.
  • Continual education in landscape maintenance should be pursued through research and training to increase knowledge and stay in-the-know about the latest information in the industry.
  • Ensure proper techniques are used by Maintenance Crew Members when mowing grass, trimming, pruning, edging, etc. and be sure all safety measures are taken to complete a task safely and successfully.
  • Follow proper maintenance crew routes, schedules, and plans issued by the Maintenance Manager seeing to it that all tasks and visits are being completed successfully by the Maintenance Crew.
  • Be sure Maintenance Crew are using time efficiently and productively on workable days.
  • Train maintenance crew members on proper job behavior.

Job Summary: A Plant & Turf Care Spray Technician is trained and certified in pesticide application and has advanced knowledge of chemicals and the application process. The Spray Technician ensures that each Smith Lake Landscaping property is maintained according to our plant, turf, weed, and insect control specifications outlined in our Scope of Program. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain proper certification and training according to state and industry requirements.
  • Continue education and increase knowledge of grass, weeds, and plant types and stay up-to-date on relevant industry related topics.
  • Must be able to efficiently manage job route and schedule.
  • Re-route and re-schedule around unworkable bad weather days using workable days productively and efficiently. 
  • Maintain record of site specific and customer specific notes.
  • Maintain legible and accurate records for state reporting on pesticide chemicals use. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • License and training to spray pesticides and chemicals in the state of Alabama.
  • Knowledge of plants, turf, weeds, chemicals, etc.
  • Driver’s license
  • Previous experience in pesticides, landscaping, or other related service industry.
  • Be able to pass a drug test

Job Summary: An irrigation and lighting technician needs to be a keen problem solver, and possess good communication skills. Knowledge of irrigation and lighting principles and experience in irrigation and low voltage installation and troubleshooting is a must. The person is this role will work along side our Install Team and must be motivated to be productive when working on their own.

  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and audit irrigation systems and low voltage lighting.
  • Obey health and safety regulations.
  • Driver’s license is necessary.

  • Knowledge of irrigation systems

  • Previous experience in irrigation, lighting or related fields.
